An estimated 2,500 avian species from 111 families have been recorded in Africa and its neighbouring islands like Madagascar and Seychelles.
What makes it unique
From treetops to forest floor
Simulating a 360-degree walk through a rainforest canopy, the top tier of the feeding tower leads you right into the middle of the aviary. On cooler days, the birds can be seen flying together in iridescent flocks. Journey down to the lower tier and you may see ground-dwelling birds forage for food near the forest ground.
The dazzling splendour of the birds can perhaps only be experienced fully at the twice-daily feedings, when starlings whirl about in a frenzied chase for mealworms and crickets and turacos leave their arboreal hideouts to feast on fruits.
