Why has WRS decided to open a river-themed wildlife park?
Freshwater habitats are an important part of the world’s ecology, and are greatly depended upon by millions of people across the world. However, these fragile habitats are being destroyed at an alarming rate.

River Safari was conceptualized to present visitors a close and personal view of freshwater habitats and animals. We aim to educate visitors on the importance of conservation through introducing them to the unique and interesting wildlife, which complements our current collection at our other three parks.

What are some of the key highlights?
Rivers of the World – Mississippi, Congo, Nile, Ganges, Murray and Mekong
Yangtze River, featuring the Giant Panda, Amazon River Quest

What are some of the more interesting / endangered animals at River Safari?
Giant Panda, Mekong Giant Catfish, Giant Freshwater Stingray

Why did WRS choose to use part of the Night Safari and Singapore Zoo’s land area for River Safari, instead of choosing a new plot of land?
The location of River Safari was chosen because it is part of Mandai nature reserve and because it is in itself a freshwater habitat. Further, the location of the carpark and other operational amenities allows for us to create synergy between all three parks.

When is the River Safari Opening?
1st Half 2012

How will River Safari measure up to the ‘competition’ posed by other tourist attractions?
River Safari is a wildlife park and therefore distinct from the other tourist attractions that focus on entertainment. WRS’ parks serves three purposes - education, recreation and conservation – and as a wildlife conservation focused and family friendly attraction, we are optimistic that visitor numbers will continue to be healthy owing to the lush greenery and natural environment unique to us.
